How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Technical Product Owner

    £75,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

Hybrid Working | 3 Days per Week in Preston

Help Shape the Next Generation of Enterprise Technology

Some Product Owner roles are about maintaining a backlog.

    This isn't one of them.

This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised organisation at the forefront of digital transformation, where technology sits at the heart of the business and Product is genuinely empowered to influence strategic direction.

You'll work alongside exceptional Software Engineers, Architects and Product Leaders, helping deliver large-scale digital platforms used by customers across multiple international markets.

With significant investment in technology, modern engineering practices and product innovation, this is an environment where ambitious Product professionals can make a genuine impact while developing their own career within a world-class technology organisation.

    The Opportunity

As a Senior Technical Product Owner, you'll become the driving force behind one of the organisation's engineering teams, taking ownership of the product backlog and ensuring every sprint delivers measurable business value.

You'll translate strategic product vision into clear, deliverable outcomes, balancing customer needs, commercial priorities and technical excellence.

Working across Product Management, Architecture, Engineering and Delivery, you'll influence decisions, challenge assumptions and help shape the future of enterprise-scale digital products.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with highly technical teams and taking ownership from concept through to delivery.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Own and continuously optimise the product backlog for a high-performing Agile engineering team.
    • Translate strategic product objectives into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria and technical requirements.
    • Prioritise work based on customer value, business objectives, technical dependencies and delivery capacity.
    • Partner closely with Software Engineers, Architects, UX, Delivery Managers and senior stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning and collaborative product workshops.
    • Balance delivery of new features alongside technical debt, platform improvements, BAU and non-functional requirements.
    • Ensure engineering teams have clear priorities and a continual pipeline of delivery-ready work.
    • Manage dependencies, risks and competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
    • Use customer feedback, data and insight to drive informed product decisions.
    • Champion Agile best practice and contribute towards continuous improvement across Product and Engineering.

    What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial awareness with a genuine passion for technology.

    You'll ideally have:

    • Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Owner or Senior Business Analyst within complex software environments.
    • Experience working closely with Software Engineering teams delivering enterprise applications.
    • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, Scrum and modern software development practices.
    • Experience managing and prioritising complex product backlogs.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
    • The ability to translate business objectives into clear technical requirements.
    • Experience writing high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • A collaborative approach with the confidence to influence at all levels of the organisation.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Desirable experience includes:

    • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
    • Enterprise software platforms
    • API-driven products and systems integration
    • Large-scale digital transformation programmes

    Why This Role?

You'll be joining a business where Product has a genuine voice.

Technology is viewed as a strategic enabler, not simply a support function, giving Product Owners the opportunity to influence roadmap decisions, challenge thinking and shape products that operate at significant international scale.

You'll work alongside talented engineers in an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement, with clear opportunities to develop your career as the organisation continues to invest heavily in its technology landscape.
