How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a talented communicator who loves creating engaging content and bringing stories to life? Do you enjoy finding creative ways to connect colleagues with the information, people and ideas that matter most?

Do you want your work to have a real impact – helping thousands of colleagues feel informed, connected and engaged while supporting an organisation that changes lives every day?

Community Integrated Care is one of the UK's largest social care charities, supporting thousands of people with learning disabilities or mental health conditions to live the lives they choose.

As we deliver our ambitious five-year strategy – Best Lives, Bolder – we're ambitious about how we communicate and engage with colleagues across our charity. From celebrating success and sharing powerful stories to supporting organisational change and colleague voice, communications play a vital role in helping colleagues feel connected to our purpose and culture.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Internal Communications & Engagement Specialist to help bring our internal communications to life through compelling content, engaging campaigns and meaningful colleague engagement activity.

This is a full-time permanent, national role with hybrid working. You will be required to work from our head office at least once a week, so our ideal candidate will be based within an hour's commute of Widnes, Cheshire.

What is The Deal for you?

    • Flexibility! You can work your full-time hours over 4 days and enjoy a long weekend or work over 5 days to accommodate your other commitments.
    • Pension: Contributary pension scheme
    • Benefits: Retail discounts, holiday discounts, cycle to work scheme and travel discounts through our benefits app.
    • Best Lives Possible: You'll be working for an award winning charity who is passionate about ensuring our colleagues and the people we support lead the best lives bolder
    • Development: We'll work with you to develop your career or to learn and experience new things. We're passionate about developing our people!
    • Dare to Learn: Access to our amazing online training platform where you can upskill taking a variety of courses and qualifications.
    • Support: From our Employee Assistance Programme (available 24/7), financial support options, and wellbeing fund you'll have the support available to lead an easier (financial) life.

    More about the role:

This role is perfect for someone looking to build an exciting career in internal communications and colleague engagement within an award-winning organisation.

You'll play a key role in delivering engaging communications and colleague experience activity across the charity, helping colleagues stay informed, connected and inspired. From creating content and managing communication channels to supporting engagement campaigns and colleague listening activities, no two days will be the same.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll create compelling stories, coordinate campaigns and support the delivery of colleague communications that bring our values, culture and strategy to life.

You'll also help ensure colleague voices are heard, supporting engagement surveys, colleague forums, events and initiatives that strengthen culture and improve colleague experience.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Delivering engaging content across a range of internal communication channels, including the intranet, Viva Engage, email communications and You First magazine
    • Producing key colleague communications including Weekly News Roundup, Manager's Digest, newsletters, webinars and other regular communications
    • Creating clear, engaging and accessible content that helps colleagues understand organisational priorities and key updates
    • Supporting the delivery of colleague engagement campaigns, wellbeing initiatives, awareness days and culture-building activities
    • Coordinating colleague voice activity, including engagement surveys, pulse surveys, focus groups and colleague feedback initiatives
    • Supporting the organisation's colleague forum and helping ensure insight and feedback are translated into action
    • Developing colleague stories, case studies and impact content that showcase the difference our colleagues make every day
    • Supporting communication activity relating to organisational projects, programmes and change initiatives
    • Managing and maintaining internal communication channels and the communications calendar
    • Monitoring channel performance and engagement metrics to help improve communications effectiveness
    • Working with internal stakeholders and the Graphic Design Specialist to develop engaging communications and campaigns
    • Acting as an ambassador for our brand, ensuring communications are professional, engaging and consistent

    What we're looking for:

We're looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic communications professional who loves storytelling and creating great colleague experiences.

    You'll bring:

    • Experience working in a communications, marketing, engagement or employee experience role
    • Experience creating engaging content across multiple communication channels
    • Strong copywriting, editing and storytelling skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience planning and delivering communications campaigns or projects
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Confidence building relationships with stakeholders at all levels
    • The ability to adapt messages for different audiences
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
    • An interest in colleague engagement, communications trends and best practice
    • Experience using Microsoft Office and communications tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
    • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach

If you're passionate about communication, love creating engaging content and want to help colleagues feel informed, connected and valued, we'd love to hear from you.

    Why join us

    • You'll be working for an award-winning charity that’s passionate about ensuring our colleagues and the people we support lead the best lives possible.
    • Flexible hours - work 37.5 hours over four days for a long weekend, or across five days to suit you. You can also work from home, with at least one day per week at our Widnes Head Office.
