Head of HR / HR Manager
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £55-65,000 + Generous Car Allowance & Excellent Benefits
Working Arrangements: Flexible working available – will also consider 4 days
Elevation HR are delighted to be exclusively partnering with an established SME manufacturing business in Sheffield who are looking to appoint an experienced Head of HR / Snr HR Manager to join their leadership team.
This is a pivotal role for a HR professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. Operating standalone you will take ownership of the full employee lifecycle, partnering with senior leaders to shape people strategy, strengthen culture, and support the continued success and growth of the organisation.
Working closely with managers across the business, you will provide trusted HR advice, drive improvements to people processes, policies and systems as well as ensuring the organisation continues to attract, develop, and retain its people.
The Role
You will play a key role in:
- Partnering with the leadership team to develop and deliver people initiatives aligned to business goals.
- Leading the review and development of HR policies, processes, and best practice across the organisation.
- Providing expert guidance to managers on employee relations, performance, attendance, recruitment, and development matters.
- Managing complex employee relations cases, ensuring a fair, consistent, and pragmatic approach.
- Driving improvements across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Supporting organisational change and ensuring effective communication throughout.
- Overseeing payroll processes and maintaining strong compliance standards.
- Using HR data and insights to identify trends, improve processes, and influence decision-making.
- Lead on company pension and benefits, reviewing annually and presenting recommendations to SLT and remuneration teams.
- Developing training and development solutions that support business and employee growth.
- Managing key workplace suppliers and services to support smooth business operations.
About You
We are looking for an experienced HR professional who is confident operating at a senior level and enjoys being both a strategic partner and a visible presence within the business.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a broad HR management role, ideally within a manufacturing or operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
- Experience coaching and influencing managers at all levels.
- A pragmatic, commercially focused approach with excellent judgement and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships and gain trust across the organisation.
- Experience improving HR processes, policies, and employee engagement initiatives.
