Container Transport Planner / Traffic Operator
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:00
Location: Felixstowe

The Role
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Container Transport Planner / Traffic Operator to take responsibility for a busy day and night container transport contract.
This is a demanding, fast-paced operation requiring someone who can confidently manage high volumes, react quickly to changing priorities and ensure the contract runs efficiently.
The successful candidate will need strong container transport experience and a clear understanding of the pressures involved in running a time-critical transport operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating container transport movements
- Managing the day-to-day running of a busy transport contract
- Coordinating day and night operations
- Allocating work to drivers and vehicles
- Monitoring collections, deliveries and driver progress
- Responding quickly to delays, operational issues and changing customer requirements
- Communicating with drivers, customers, depots, ports and internal teams
- Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and within agreed deadlines
- Maintaining accurate transport records and operational systems
- Supporting the wider team during busy periods
The Successful Candidate
You will need to have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Traffic Operator or Container Planner
- Strong knowledge of container transport operations
- Experience working within a busy and high-pressure transport environment
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and make confident operational decisions
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong geographical knowledge
- A calm, organised and proactive approach
- The ability to work effectively with drivers, customers and operational teams
This role offers a salary of up to £60,000, but applicants will need to demonstrate the experience and operational knowledge required to manage a demanding container transport contract.
