How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We're proud to be supporting a leading construction and property consultancy as they continue to grow their Manchester team.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step into their first Associate role, or an established Associate Quantity Surveyor looking to join a business with an outstanding pipeline of work and genuine opportunities for progression.

The consultancy is entering an exciting phase of growth, with a strong portfolio of projects across the North West and a growing client base. They're looking for someone who wants to become a key part of that journey-building long-term client relationships, taking ownership of projects and helping shape the future of the Manchester office.

    The Projects

One of the biggest attractions of this role is the quality of work.

The majority of projects are based in Central Manchester, meaning very little time spent travelling. Occasionally you'll visit sites further afield, but this is typically no more than 1–2 days per month.

Their portfolio includes a wide variety of schemes, including:

    • Hotels
    • Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA)
    • Build-to-Rent developments
    • Major office refurbishments and new-build commercial schemes
    • Cladding and remediation projects

Project values range from £5m through to £140m, including involvement in a flagship £210m development that will become one of the city's defining schemes.

    The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership and building trusted relationships with clients.

As an Associate Quantity Surveyor you'll be responsible for:

    • Leading projects from inception through to completion.
    • Providing commercial and strategic cost advice.
    • Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.
    • Leading meetings and delivering high-quality consultancy services.
    • Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors.
    • Working closely with senior leadership as the Manchester team continues to grow.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your own projects while being supported by an experienced leadership team who are committed to your long-term development.

    Business Development

Business development is an important part of any Associate role, but you'll never be expected to do it alone.

The business runs fortnightly Business Development meetings, giving the team an opportunity to share ideas, discuss opportunities and support one another. You'll attend networking events, continue building your professional profile and develop the confidence to strengthen existing client relationships while creating new ones.

    About You

We're keen to speak with people from a range of backgrounds.

    This opportunity would suit:

    • A Senior Quantity Surveyor with around 4-5 years consultancy experience looking to take the next step.
    • An existing Associate Quantity Surveyor looking for a fresh challenge within a growing consultancy.

    Ideally, you'll also have:

    • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
    • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
    • The confidence to lead projects and build lasting relationships.
    • A proactive approach with the ambition to continue developing your career.

MRICS is desirable but by no means essential.

If you're currently working towards Chartership, the business has an excellent APC community, experienced mentors and structured support in place to help you achieve MRICS within the next 12 months.

    What's On Offer

Alongside the opportunity to work on some of Manchester's most exciting developments, you'll benefit from an excellent package that includes:

    • Hybrid working (3 days in the office / 2 days from home)
    • Flexible working hours
    • Private healthcare
    • Life assurance (4x salary)
    • Income protection
    • 5% employer pension contribution
    • Competitive car allowance
    • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
    • 24 days annual leave, increasing with service, plus the option to buy an additional 5 days
    • Full APC, MRICS and APM Chartership support
    • Tailored training plans and leadership development
    • Two paid professional memberships
    • Enhanced maternity and paternity package
    • Discounted gym memberships and lifestyle discounts

    Why This Opportunity?

It's a chance to join a consultancy that's investing heavily in its people, expanding its Manchester presence and delivering some of the region's most significant projects.

If you're looking for a role where you'll be trusted with responsibility, supported in your development and given every opportunity to build lasting client relationships while progressing your career, get in touch with Freya Handley to discuss.
