How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Class Teacher

    Location: Derby

    Contract: Permanent

    Start Date: September 2026

    Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

    Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEN School In Derby that is looking to appoint a passionate and resilient SEN Teacher on a permanent basis.

    This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to supporting children and young people with additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN / SEMH needs.
    • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment where pupils can thrive.
    • Build positive relationships with pupils and use a trauma-informed approach to support engagement.
    • Manage and support challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
    • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress in line with EHCP targets and school expectations.
    • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, therapists, and external agencies.
    • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, social development, and personal growth.
    • Encourage resilience, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
    • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or within a specialist SEN setting.
    • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
    • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet a range of learning and emotional needs.
    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
