About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced Property & Liability Underwriter to join an established Existing Business team in Leeds. You’ll take ownership of a diverse renewal portfolio across core commercial lines, ensuring profitable retention, strong broker relationships, and disciplined underwriting.
You’ll work closely with brokers across the region, assess renewal performance, negotiate terms, and make confident decisions that balance customer needs with commercial outcomes. This role suits someone who enjoys portfolio ownership, technical underwriting, and relationship‑driven trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and underwrite an Existing Business portfolio across Property, Liability and wider Commercial P&C risks.
- Review renewal cases, assess risk quality, and negotiate terms to ensure profitable retention.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire market.
- Identify opportunities to improve account performance, including rate adequacy, coverage adjustments, and risk improvement measures.
- Work collaboratively with New Business, Trading, Claims and Distribution teams to deliver a consistent customer experience.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with appetite, governance, and profitability targets.
- Provide insight into portfolio trends and contribute to regional planning and performance reviews.
- Support junior underwriters by sharing technical knowledge and promoting best practice.
