About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Technical Ports & Terminals Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing technical expertise to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of port and terminal facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, engineering, maintenance, and project stakeholders to optimise asset performance, support infrastructure improvements, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for port and terminal infrastructure, equipment, and operational systems.
- Monitor the performance and reliability of mechanical, electrical, and civil assets.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
- Support capital projects, including planning, design reviews, commissioning, and handover.
- Conduct technical inspections, root cause investigations, and failure analyses.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, maintenance documentation, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to operational and maintenance personnel where required.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Marine Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience within ports, terminals, marine, logistics, heavy industry, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of port equipment, terminal operations, and asset management principles.
- Experience with maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or engineering project delivery.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
Desirable Skills
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience with bulk, container, or liquid terminals.
- Knowledge of relevant maritime and port industry regulations.
- Experience using asset management and reliability methodologies.
- Project management experience and familiarity with engineering standards.
