How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £27,516.42 – £36,224.69

    Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm

    Contract: Term-time only

    About the Role

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teacher/Tutor to join Petty Pool Vocational College.

    You will be responsible for the effective delivery of your curriculum area, planning, teaching and assessing learners with High Needs who are completing 16–19 Study Programmes.

    The role includes developing appropriate teaching and assessment materials and delivering engaging sessions for qualifications ranging from pre-entry level to Level 1, depending on the course and learner cohort.

    You will also act as a Personal Tutor, providing pastoral care, guidance and support to learners throughout their programme.


    Key respnsibilities

    You will:

    • Complete initial, diagnostic, baseline and ongoing assessments, including functional skills assessments using BKSB.
    • Set appropriate SMART targets through learners’ Individual Learning Plans.
    • Regularly review, record, track and report on learner progress.
    • Produce detailed Schemes of Learning for your curriculum pathway.
    • Prepare appropriate teaching, learning and assessment materials.
    • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive lessons.
    • Personalise learning to meet individual learner needs.
    • Identify opportunities for learners to demonstrate competence and collect appropriate evidence.
    • Ensure assessment evidence is valid, sufficient and meets national standards.
    • Deliver education and training in line with awarding organisation and funding requirements.
    • Use a range of teaching styles and approaches.
    • Provide clear guidance and direction to Learner Mentors to maximise learner progress.
    • Plan internal work experience opportunities and support Learner Mentors in their delivery.
    • Accurately assess and record learners’ additional support needs, building on their Education, Health and Care Plans.
    • Record and report learner incidents to ensure appropriate support can be provided.
    • Comply with safeguarding and Prevent policies and procedures at all times.
    • Act as a positive role model and provide pastoral care and support as a Personal Tutor.
    • Deliver group tutorials and one-to-one tutorial sessions.
    • Support learners to develop the personal, social, wellbeing and employability skills needed for adult life.
    • Plan and deliver enrichment activities that enhance the learner experience.
    • Motivate, advise and support learners throughout their programme.
    • Promote a positive, inclusive and progressive learning environment.
    • Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to learners.
    • Take responsibility for learners during off-site activities and when travelling in Petty Pool Trust vehicles.
    • Maintain appropriate health and safety standards on and off site, including completing relevant risk assessments.
    • Organise and support suitable vocational work placements for learners.
    • Develop links with employers, industry partners and community organisations.
    • Contribute to teaching, learning and assessment observations and quality assurance processes.
    • Take part in relevant training and continuing professional development.
    • Participate in residential activities where required.
    • Promote equality, diversity and the values and ethos of Petty Pool.
    • Remain flexible and able to respond positively to changes in duties, routines and learner support needs.
