Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour, increasing to £13.25 after 12 weeks
Working Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week)
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Public Sector? We are currently recruiting on behalf of HMCTS Peterborough for a Full Time Temporary Admin Officer to join their busy team.
As an Admin Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the court, ensuring cases progress efficiently through the justice system while providing excellent administrative support. This is a temporary position with a strong possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
Progress cases through the Court/Tribunal system and provide support across HMCTS functions.
Input and update information accurately on internal systems.
Handle inbound and outbound telephone calls, responding to enquiries from court users, legal professionals and the judiciary.
Prepare court papers and case files.
Create, update and maintain accurate records.
Manage email correspondence and general administrative duties.
Book, prepare and organise meeting rooms.
Resolve queries by following HMCTS guidance and procedures.
Court Ushering Duties (Approximately 10% of the role)
As part of this position, you will also support the court as an Usher when required. Duties include:
Preparing courtrooms before hearings.
Greeting and directing court users, witnesses, legal representatives and members of the public.
Calling cases into the courtroom and ensuring hearings run smoothly.
Escorting parties to the correct courtrooms or waiting areas.
Providing general assistance to judges and court staff during hearings.
Ensuring courtrooms remain organised, secure and ready for use.
Requirements
Previous administration experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, with confidence managing email inboxes.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong IT and computer skills.
Ability to manage a high workload and prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
High attention to detail.
Adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
