How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

As our newly appointed Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll step into a business that's quietly doing some of the most interesting engineering in UK for our country. From open-source intelligence, next-generation effector systems, all built for interoperability across the most demanding security environments.

We're growing, we're innovative, and we mean it when we say career progression here isn't capped by hierarchy or bureaucracy. If you've got the ambition and the ability, we'll give you the platform, the projects, and the people to back it.

You'll take real technical leadership from day one- shaping how our electrical systems are designed, integrated, and delivered into mission-critical environments, and mentoring the next generation of engineers as you go.

If you're looking for a move that actually stretches you- where your ideas get heard, your career isn't boxed in, and the work genuinely matters - this is that move.

    * Lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of electrical systems for defence and communication platforms.

    * Provide technical oversight and guidance across electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Support the integration of electrical systems into wider network and communication architectures.

    * Lead system installation, configuration, testing, and acceptance activities.

    * Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and systems-related issues.

    * Produce and review technical documentation including schematics, test procedures, reports, and design packs.

    * Ensure compliance with applicable electrical regulations, safety standards, and defence requirements.

    * Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to deliver integrated solutions.

    * Support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practice, and innovation activities.

    * Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.

    * Contribute technical expertise to bids, proposals, and future capability development activities where required.

    What we're looking for

    * 3-5 years' minimum experience within electrical engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, communications, systems integration, or other highly regulated environments.

    * Strong technical and analytical problem-solving capability, with experience designing, integrating, and supporting complex electrical systems.

    * Solid grounding in electrical engineering principles, system integration, and network infrastructures.

    * Comfortable working with electrical schematics, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.

    * Working knowledge of relevant UK electrical standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.

    * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    * Hands-on experience supporting testing, fault finding, and system acceptance activities.

    * Able to manage multiple priorities and support project delivery deadlines within a project-based engineering environment.

    * Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to engineering quality.

    * A collaborative team player, comfortable working across multidisciplinary groups.

    * A proactive, improvement-focused mindset, at ease in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

    * Experience gained within aerospace, defence, rail, or automotive would be a strong advantage.
