How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Murphy is recruiting for a Facilities Manager - North  to work in the Facilitries team across the North - office include Wigan, Leeds and Ollerton.

    Reporting into the Operations Director the Facilities Manager will be the principal point of contact for Facilities at their designated sites, delivering high service levels and ensuring legal compliance and safe work environments within an annually agreed budget.

    A day in the life of a Murphy Facilities Manager

    Working with Facilities Operations Manager responsible for ensuring offices are legally compliant with relevant regulations, and onsite logbooks are maintained
    Manage buildings to a high standard, providing a safe working environment for employees and visitors 
    Provide technical support and guidance on key regulatory requirements (fire, water, asbestos, electrical safety, gas, air, and LOLER), and on relevant property and facilities linked activities including building fabric, landscaping and external maintenance, M&E systems (incl. HVAC, lifts, boilers and water systems), consumables, operational security and systems, pest control, cleaning, waste disposal, archiving, and catering
    Working with Facilities Operations Manager responsible for managing planned and reactive asset maintenance, in line with FMR, long-term lifecycles and strategic plans 
    Support outsourced contract management through oversight of service standards and provide feedback on delivery quality for key framework providers such as cleaning, security, maintenance and catering
    Provide technical input for routine work and project scope and specifications, ensuring orders are correct in terms of design and cost, and supporting procurement processes
    Manage contractor process, from pre-start preparations, through RAMS review and control of works, to post works inspections, ensuring delivery to time, specification and quality standards 
    Responsible for conducting compliance audits to check certifications including remedial interventions are up to date, coverage of FM scopes remain appropriate, and delivery is in line with standards 
    Support external audits as FM lead, ensuring documentation is in order, sites are in good condition and actions from previous assessments are closed down
    Produce business cases for projects to improve office environments and demonstrate lifecycle assessment and value for money
    Provide technical input to building strategies including office space planning, and modifications, planned programmes of work, and team moves
    Contribute to policy creation, modification, and implementation
    Deliver timely updates to the business on H&S matters, FM incidents and issues, and team performance 
    Support emergency responses and management of FM-related incidents
    Maintain and update business continuity plans in line with business and regulatory changes
    Support energy and utility management across all offices, driving efficiency, and utilising sustainable options 
    Conduct surveys with Murphy employees and gain feedback on facilities operations and areas for improvement 
    Able to build, manage and deliver a facilities budget covering PPMs, remedial works, and planned investment 
    Can assist with procurement, management, and tendering of all outsourced contracts for FM
    Manage service charge budgets with relevant stakeholders, and ensure recharges are managed accurately and effectively 
    Identify cost saving opportunities

    Suitable qualifications in FM field
    Experience managing hard and soft FM services with good knowledge of relevant codes of practice and statutory maintenance schedules (e.g. SFG20 and CIBSE standards)
    Membership of appropriate body preferred 
    Strong knowledge of relevant H&S legislation 
    Understanding of M&E systems to the extent to be able to refer the issues to a specialist, with the ability to interrogate reports 
    Project management, contractor management and CDM knowledge desirable
    Ability to use CAFM systems to track jobs and provide reports
    Experience of setting and managing budgets preferred
    Ability to assess and implement “state of the art” FM systems where they can help and improve Murphy
    Experience in working in a “hot-desk” or “Agile” working environment and have detailed knowledge of the roll out of these types of working practices.
    Willing to travel to sites across Murphy Northern geographies, must be able to drive
