How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    echnical Sales Manager – Tooling

    Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire (covering Southern UK – commutable from Fareham, Havant, Waterlooville, Chichester, Southampton and surrounding areas)
    Salary: Up to £65,000 + excellent package (depending on experience)
    Hours: Monday–Friday (office, customer visits and home working as required)
    Start: ASAP

    Working closely with customers in the rubber and plastics industries, you'll become the technical expert they rely on, helping develop tooling solutions from concept through to manufacture while growing an established customer base across Southern England.

    What you'll be doing

    *

    Managing an established portfolio of customers across Southern UK

    *

    Responding to technical RFQs for mould tooling and converting enquiries into orders

    *

    Working with customers at concept stage to develop practical tooling solutions

    *

    Producing accurate quotations and refining specifications as projects develop

    *

    Advising customers on tooling design, manufacturability and production considerations

    *

    Building relationships with tooling engineers, project engineers and technical buyers

    *

    Identifying and developing new business opportunities through networking, prospecting and industry events

    *

    Working closely with the engineering and production teams in Portsmouth to deliver customer projects

    What we're looking for

    We're looking for someone with a strong technical background in tooling who enjoys working with customers and solving engineering problems.

    You'll ideally have experience in one or more of the following:

    Rubber mould tooling

    Plastic injection mould tooling

    Toolmaking

    Mould tool design

    You'll also be able to:

    Read and interpret engineering drawings and tooling concepts

    Understand mould design considerations including shrinkage, undercuts and manufacturability

    Recommend practical tooling solutions based on real manufacturing experience

    Communicate confidently with engineers, technical buyers and manufacturing teams

    Previous technical sales experience would be advantageous, but it isn't essential. The business is happy to train someone with strong tooling knowledge who has the personality and ambition to develop into a successful Technical Sales Manager.

    This is a varied role combining:

    Time at the Portsmouth facility working with engineering and production teams

    Office and remote working where appropriate

    Your schedule will be driven by customer requirements rather than fixed office days
