How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Commercial Project Director or Senior Commercial Leader looking to shape the commercial success of major UK infrastructure programmes?

Conrad Consulting is delighted to be partnering with a leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy seeking to appoint a Commercial Project Director to lead and grow its commercial management offering across the South of England.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing consultancy delivering nationally significant infrastructure, utilities and energy projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading commercial strategy, developing high-performing teams and building long-term client relationships across a diverse portfolio of complex programmes.

    The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership position offering the opportunity to influence both project delivery and business growth.

You'll provide strategic commercial leadership across multiple infrastructure programmes, acting as a trusted advisor to clients while driving excellence in commercial governance, contract management and programme delivery.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll also play an instrumental role in developing the consultancy's commercial management service, expanding its presence across the South of England and supporting future business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial management across major infrastructure, utilities and energy programmes from inception through to final account.

Act as the senior commercial advisor to key clients, providing strategic guidance on complex projects.

Provide expert leadership across NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, ensuring robust commercial governance and compliance.

Oversee valuations, forecasting, cost reporting, compensation events, claims, variations and final accounts.

Establish and maintain effective commercial controls across multiple programmes and portfolios.

Build, mentor and lead a high-performing commercial team, promoting collaboration and professional development.

Develop strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and provide trusted commercial advice throughout project delivery.

Lead business development activities, including client engagement, bid submissions and presentations.

Work alongside senior leadership to shape the future direction of the commercial management function.

Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across the commercial team.

    About You

We're looking to speak with experienced commercial leaders who have a proven track record of delivering major infrastructure projects and leading successful commercial teams.

    You'll ideally possess:

Significant experience operating at Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Lead or Commercial Project Director level.

Extensive knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.

A strong background within infrastructure, energy, utilities or major civil engineering environments.

Experience managing complex commercial programmes and engaging with senior stakeholders.

A degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

MRICS or an equivalent professional qualification.

Excellent commercial acumen with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.

Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

An established network within the infrastructure or utilities sectors would be advantageous.

    What's on Offer?

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a highly influential leadership role within an ambitious and growing consultancy.

    In return, you'll benefit from:

An excellent salary and comprehensive benefits package.

    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

The opportunity to lead commercial delivery on nationally significant infrastructure and energy projects.

A genuine platform to shape and grow a successful commercial management team.

Direct exposure to senior client stakeholders and complex, high-value programmes.

Clear opportunities for career progression within a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy.

A supportive culture that encourages professional development, innovation and leadership.

If you're looking for a senior commercial leadership role where you'll have the autonomy to influence strategy, develop teams and deliver major infrastructure programmes, we'd love to hear from you.
