How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Area Sales Manager – Optometry – East London & South East

    £40,000–£45,000 + Bonus + Company Car / Allowance

    We are recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to join a successful and growing specialist healthcare business operating within the UK eye care market.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of an established territory spanning East and Southeast London, Essex, Kent and East Anglia, joining a business with a strong reputation, established products and exciting plans for continued growth.

    If you're already working in healthcare or optical sales, you'll know what makes a good territory role: quality products, existing business to build on, new opportunities to develop and the autonomy to get on with it.

    That's exactly what this opportunity offers.

    The Opportunity

    As Area Sales Manager you'll take ownership of the territory, developing existing customers while identifying and building new commercial opportunities, predominantly across the optometry market.

    This is a role for someone who enjoys being out with customers, building long-term relationships and developing their territory rather than simply maintaining what's already there.

    You'll join a supportive specialist business where you'll have the opportunity to develop your career alongside the continued growth of the team.

    About You

    We're keen to speak with commercially driven sales professionals who enjoy being in front of customers and taking ownership of their results.

    You'll ideally have:

    * Previous field sales experience within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, optical or a related market

    * A track record of developing customer relationships and growing business

    * Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    * Confidence engaging with professional and clinically focused customers

    * A proactive approach to developing new opportunities

    * The organisation and self-motivation to manage a field-based territory independently

    Experience within optometry, ophthalmology or pharmaceuticals would be advantageous, while ABPI qualification is desirable rather than essential.

    This is a field-based role, so you'll need to live within the territory and hold a full UK driving licence.

    The Package

    * £40,000–£45,000 salary

    * Bonus

    * Company car or car allowance

    * 25 days' holiday + bank holidays

    * Pension, healthcare and enhanced company benefits

    If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely own your territory, build your career within specialist healthcare and join a business with exciting plans for continued growth, we'd love to hear from you.

    Apply now for a confidential discussion and full details.
