How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, solving complex technical challenges, and working directly with customers in operational environments.

Whether your experience comes from the Armed Forces, defence industry or another secure engineering environment, you'll play a key role in maintaining mission-critical technology that supports national security.

    The Role

This is a varied field-based position where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with customers, engineering teams and project stakeholders to install, maintain, troubleshoot and support highly secure technical systems across multiple customer sites.

You'll be responsible for ensuring equipment remains operational, carrying out planned maintenance, diagnosing faults, supporting deployments and helping deliver an exceptional customer experience.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventative maintenance, firmware upgrades and system health checks
Diagnose and resolve hardware and infrastructure faults through structured root cause analysis
Install and support Windows Server environments, virtualisation platforms and secure network infrastructure
Provide technical support during customer trials, demonstrations and military exercises
Deliver technical training to operators and maintainers
Provide remote 1st and 2nd line support when required
Produce clear technical documentation, maintenance reports and knowledge base articles
Support software deployments, configuration management and hardware lifecycle activities
Work closely with engineering, logistics and project teams to deliver outstanding customer support
    Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4)

    What We're Looking For

We're interested in engineers with experience in one or more of the following:

Defence, military or secure government environments
Radio Frequency (RF) systems and secure communications
    Cisco networking, routing and switching
    Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
    VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
    LAN, WAN and VLAN networking
    Encryption and cryptographic equipment
Hardware installation, fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance
    Customer-facing technical support
Configuration, release and change managementCandidates with previous service in the Royal Air Force, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME, or similar defence communications and engineering roles are particularly encouraged to apply, although equivalent commercial experience is equally welcomed.

    Essential Requirements

HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent military experience)
    Full UK Driving Licence
Willingness to travel throughout the UK, with occasional international travel
Eligible to obtain SC and DV Security Clearance
