How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Manager

    The Role:

    The Quality Manager is responsible for quality assurance, quality control, compliance, and continuous improvement. The role ensures all products, services, and processes meet statutory, client, and company requirements. This position holds technical authority on quality matters, including the right to stop works, reject products, and escalate risks.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Quality Monitoring

    Manage IMS: Maintain and develop the integrated management system in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
    Ensure Compliance: Meet legal and industry standards including BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, LOLER, and PUWER.
    Support Accreditations: Develop and implement BCS quality processes, standards, and certifications.
    Conduct Inspections: Perform frequent internal quality checks and inspections on manufactured products.
    Audit Supply Chain: Conduct supplier audits to ensure incoming products adhere to quality standards.
    Oversee Calibration: Manage the calibration standards and systems across the business.
    Troubleshoot Issues: Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product and production defects.Business Improvements

    Drive Efficiency: Examine ways to improve production, streamline operations, and boost efficiency.
    Support Projects: Partner with the Project Manager to implement business-wide improvements.
    Introduce Innovation: Bring new quality practices and innovations into the business.Complaints & SLAs

    Manage Complaints: Ensure all complaints are investigated and closed out within the 5-day SLA.
    Lead investigations for quality incidents and non-conformances (NCP)
    Apply CAPA: Put strict corrective and preventative measures in place to prevent repeat defects.Fabrications

    Maintain Standards: Assist the team with obtaining and maintaining divisional accreditations.
    Audit Pre-Delivery: Verify welding procedures (WPS/WPQR), welder qualifications, material traceability, and coatings.
    Develop ITPs: Create contract-specific Inspection & Test Plans to meet customer needs.
    Compile Handovers: Ensure the accurate compilation of quality documentation and Manufacturer's Data Records (MDRs).
    Escalate Risks: Support the Head of Fabrications by flagging concerns and agreeing on remedial actions.Plant Hire & Equipment Compliance

    Enforce Regulations: Ensure all plant, lifting equipment, and safety assets comply with LOLER and PUWER.
    Manage Test Regimes: Oversee inspection and certification schedules for gas detection and site safety gear.
    Control Traceability: Maintain flawless asset traceability and certification records.Leadership & Management

    Conduct 1-to-1s: Hold regular catchups and annual PDRs with direct reports to track performance.
    Develop Talent: Manage quality personnel, set clear objectives, and support professional growth.
    Foster Culture: Promote a "right-first time" culture of quality and compliance across all teams.Quality

    Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes.
    Contribute to continuous improvement by providing suggestions and feedback to Team Leaders and Management.
    Work to agreed timescales updating the Team Leader on progress. Maintain good communication with Team Leaders and Management at all times.HSEQ

    Complete tasks in accordance with risk assessments,
    Report accidents and Positive Interventions using the correct methods.
    Identify/Submit positive interventions where needed.
    Work in conjunction with HSEQ policies and procedures.Key measures & targets:

    Process Reviews: Regular evaluations of business-wide processes.
    SLA Closure: NCPs and complaints closed within 5 working days.
    Defect Reduction: Measurable decrease in repeat defects and rework.
    Audit Performance: High compliance scores and successful external certification audits.
    Right-First-Time: Continuous improvement in first-pass quality metrics.
    Supplier Quality: High performance scores from supply chain vendors.Key relationships:

    The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:

    Essential

    System Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
    Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a quality leadership role within fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering.
    Technical Standards: Deep understanding of EN 1090, ISO 3834, LOLER, and PUWER.
    Audit Management: Strong experience managing audits, NCP and CAPA processes.
    Soft Skills: Excellent communication, influencing, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
    IT Literacy: High level of proficiency in standard IT tools and systems.
    Adaptability: Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different tasks and projectsDesirable

    Specialist Systems: Knowledge of ISO 50001 energy management systems.
    Qualifications: Educated to degree level with an Internal Auditor qualification.
    Professional Membership: Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or similar body.
