How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Participate in code reviews, peer support and knowledge sharing within the team.

    * Assist with release activity, deployment processes and post-release support where required.

    * Help improve development practices, documentation and technical resilience to reduce dependency on individual team members.

    * Work with Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD tooling to support structured software delivery.

    * Contribute to a collaborative, delivery-focused team culture and support continuous improvement in the way Red Funnel develops and supports software.

    * In addition to the duties listed above, the jobholder is expected to perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of IT from time to time.

    * All colleagues are required to accept responsibility for personal development within the scope of their role, and to encourage the development of others.

    Knowledge / Experience required

    * Commercial experience developing software using C# and .NET

    * Experience building or supporting APIs, web services and system integrations

    * Experience with ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core

    * Experience working within a software development team in a structured commercial environment

    * Experience troubleshooting and supporting live applications

    * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical issues in a practical way
