How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD)
    Contract Type: Full-time Long-term Temporary Work
    Start Date: 8 September 2026
    Location: Barnet, London, UK
    Salary: £90–£100 per day
    Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only
    About the Role

    Teach Now is seeking a compassionate and consistent SEN Teaching Assistant with ASD experience for a long-term position in a Barnet primary school.

    The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils with autism spectrum disorder in the classroom and during structured interventions. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or within a small group, depending on pupil needs.

    This role requires someone who understands that communication, sensory regulation and behaviour can look different for every child.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supporting pupils with ASD to access classroom learning

    Using visual timetables, now-and-next boards and clear routines

    Breaking tasks into manageable steps

    Encouraging communication, independence and social interaction

    Supporting emotional and sensory regulation

    Implementing strategies agreed by teachers and the SENCO

    Recording progress and sharing relevant observations

    Supporting pupils during transitions and less-structured periods

    Maintaining calm, predictable boundaries

    Requirements

    Applicants should have:

    Recent experience supporting children with autism

    At least six months of experience in a school, SEN, care or youth setting

    An understanding of autism-informed support strategies

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    Patience, resilience and emotional awareness

    The ability to work consistently as part of a wider team

    The right to work in the UK

    A clear commitment to safeguarding

    Relevant training in autism, communication approaches or behaviour support would be advantageous.
