How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Housing Officer

    Stockton on Tees (Hybrid Working)

£37,288 - £39,523 per annum plus Essential Car User

We are looking for a proactive, motivated and customer focused Housing Officer to join our Housing Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced housing professional who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and making a positive difference to the lives of our customers and the communities we serve.

As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, comprehensive housing management service across a designated neighbourhood.

You will work closely with customers and partner agencies to sustain tenancies, maximise rental income, tackle anti-social behaviour, and create safe, sustainable communities, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory standards and organisational policies.

This is a varied and rewarding role that requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound professional judgement, and the ability to effectively manage a diverse and demanding caseload.

    You will have:

    * Experience of delivering a comprehensive housing management service within a social housing environment.

    * A sound working knowledge of tenancy management, including rent collection, anti-social behaviour case management, tenancy sustainment and estate management.

    * A proven ability to manage a varied caseload, balancing competing priorities while delivering excellent customer outcomes.

    * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly, confidently and empathetically to a wide range of customers.

    * Experience of working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.

    * A proactive approach to problem solving, with the confidence to make informed decisions and work independently.

Most importantly, you will have a strong sense of social purpose and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of our customers. You will share our values, be passionate about delivering excellent services, and be motivated by the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference in the communities we serve.

    Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion-Different Together

At North Star, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion are part of our DNA. Together, we continue to build a culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates difference. It fuels our innovation and connects us even closer to customers and communities.

We are keen to reflect the communities we serve and welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds and experience. We are committed to tackling issues of under representation in our staff team. As such we will guarantee an interview to any candidate who, has a disability, or considers themselves to be from an ethnic minority background and meets the essential criteria of the role.

Closing Date for Applications is Wednesday 19th August

Interviews to be scheduled: 24/25th August 2026
