How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant – September 2026 Start
    Redbourn, Hertfordshire, AL3 7LW
    £90 – £100 per day
    Full-Time | Long-Term

    Education Matters is currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive school in St Albans from September 2026.

    This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or looking to develop your career within special education, we'd love to hear from you.
    The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

    Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
    Support children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
    Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored learning plans.
    Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and social development.
    Promote positive behaviour using effective behaviour management strategies.
    Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
    Support pupils with personal, emotional, and academic development. The Ideal Candidate To be considered, you will have:

    Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school, nursery, care, or support setting (desirable but not essential).
    A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
