Hays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation for a Finance Manager (Lottery Accounts) opportunity on an initial 6-month contract with the option to extend to 12 months. There will be permanent competitions within this timeframe as the finance team is doubling in size.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead the finance team and provide a comprehensive finance service across the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial information, supporting budget holders, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with public sector financial reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts to the senior leadership team.
Budget setting, monitoring and financial performance reporting.
Production of financial and statistical returns and completion of financial exercises for external stakeholders.
Cashflow management and financial analysis.
Continuous improvement of financial systems, controls and processes.
Production and review of monthly and year-end financial accounts, including Lottery funding accounts.
Liaison with internal and external auditors and preparation of supporting audit documentation.
Leadership, development and performance management of the finance team.
Preparation of reports, briefing papers and responses to information requests.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you must be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of a recognised professional accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or CPA Ireland.
You will also possess:
At least 3 years' post-qualification experience gained within the last 5 years in a finance-related environment.
Experience across at least two of the following areas:
Financial planning and budgeting
Financial accounting and auditing
Management accounting and cost analysis
Development and implementation of financial systems
A minimum of 2 years' experience using computerised accounting software packages.
Experience implementing financial procedures and preparing financial and statistical reports for senior management.
Demonstrable leadership and staff management experience, including performance management and development of team members.
