How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Join Buckinghamshire Council as a Redaction Officer and play a key role in protecting personal information while ensuring people receive their legal right of access. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex social care cases within a supportive Information Governance team

    About the role
    As a Redaction Officer, you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

    Lead on the redaction and processing of Subject Access Requests, ensuring responses are accurate, complete, and provided within statutory deadlines.
    Review and redact sensitive information to ensure responses comply with UK data protection legislation
    Liaise with services—particularly social care teams—to identify and retrieve relevant information, ensuring compliance and protecting third-party rights.
    Maintain detailed records of all requests, decisions, redaction and exemptions to support transparency and audit readiness.
    Collaborate with colleagues across the Information Governance team to ensure consistent and legally compliant request handling.
    Provide advice and support to council departments on best practices in redaction, SAR response, and information governance.
     
    About you
    The successful candidate(s) should have:

    Demonstrable experience processing Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information rights requests, ideally in a local authority, legal, or public sector setting.
    Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and an understanding of the Freedom of Information Act, and Environmental Information Regulations.
    Skilled in the use of redaction tools and proficient in Microsoft 365.
    Experience working with case management systems such as iCasework is advantageous.
    High level of attention to detail and ability to apply legal exemptions accurately and proportionately.
    Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to engage effectively with internal services, external stakeholders and data subjects.
    Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
