How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor

    Location: Warrington or Salford

    Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

    Package: £5,000 Car Allowance, Mileage, Travel Expenses, etc.

    Project Types: Commercial Buildings, Cat A & Cat B Office Fit Outs, Industrial Buildings, Warehouses

    The Role

    We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and work alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor on commercial and industrial fit out and refurbishment projects across the UK.

    Projects range in value from £100k to £3m, with typical programme durations of 5 weeks to 5 months.

    This is a development-focused role for someone looking to build their commercial experience and progress into a strong Quantity Surveyor. You will be involved across the construction phase, with some exposure to pre-construction.

    Duties

    Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor with the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
    Assist with valuations, payment applications and subcontractor payments.
    Manage and monitor subcontractor accounts, including variations and final accounts.
    Assist with procurement and the negotiation of subcontractor and supplier packages.
    Monitor project costs, labour and material usage and assist with cost reporting.
    Identify, value and manage variations and additional works.
    Assist with CVRs, forecasting and reporting on project performance.
    Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
    Work with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
    Assist with final accounts and project close-out. 

    Requirements

    BSc in Quantity Surveying or HND with relevant commercial experience.
    1-3 years' experience working in a commercial role within construction.
    Experience within construction, fit out or refurbishment would be advantageous.
    Good understanding of construction costs, contracts and commercial processes.
    Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
    Full UK Driving Licence
