How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

People In Power is a boutique engineering recruitment business that works exclusively on providing highly experienced people into the Power, Transmission & Distribution market across the UK, building on 10 years of industry knowledge.
Offering a full recruitment solution to Asset Owners, Consultancies, EPC's, OEM's, and ICP's from inception to final handover. Our exceptional service and comprehensive understanding of the sector has allowed us to build an unrivalled network of clients and candidates.
We have exclusively partnered with a national Tier 1 EPC that delivers complex utility and power projects across the UK, looking to secure an Engineering Project Manager to join the Pre-Construction team.
Our client delivers high-profile HV cable projects across the UK. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing technically challenging cable routes, solving complex engineering problems, and influencing how projects are delivered long before they reach site.
This role would suit someone with a strong civil engineering background who enjoys finding practical solutions to complex routing challenges and wants to bridge the gap between design, pre-construction and delivery.
    The Role
You'll take ownership of the engineering and civil delivery of cable route projects at Pre-Construction stage, leading feasibility studies, optioneering exercises and technical development to ensure schemes are practical, buildable and commercially viable.
Working alongside design, construction and commercial teams, you'll help shape projects from the earliest stages through to successful delivery.
    Key responsibilities include:
    * Leading feasibility and optioneering studies for HV cable routes.
    * Developing engineering solutions for complex crossings including highways, rail, rivers, tunnels and other constrained environments.
    * Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams to produce buildable solutions.
    * Acting as the technical link between design, pre-construction and operational delivery teams.
    * Managing project programmes, technical deliverables and engineering milestones.
    * Overseeing engineering quality, safety and compliance throughout project delivery.
    * Building strong relationships with clients, DNOs, statutory authorities and key stakeholders.
    * Identifying and mitigating engineering and delivery risks before construction begins.
    * Supporting commercial performance, budgets and project reporting.
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
    * Strong civil engineering experience within the utilities sector.
    * Experience delivering HV cable route or major utility infrastructure projects.
    * Knowledge of complex crossing methodologies including HDD, trenchless techniques, TBM or conventional trenching.
    * Experience working with DNOs, IDNOs or major utility clients.
    * A solid understanding of utility design, construction and engineering standards.
    * Experience engaging with organisations such as National Highways, Network Rail or other statutory bodies.
    * Excellent stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
    * Commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical, programme and cost considerations.
This is an opportunity to join a business delivering nationally significant infrastructure projects where you'll have genuine influence over engineering decisions from day one.
If you're looking for a role that combines technical engineering, project leadership and strategic problem solving, we'd love to hear from you
