Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in Southampton, dedicated to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage positive engagement
Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans
Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs (preferred but not essential)
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with challenging learners
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
A willingness to learn and develop professionally
