How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Blue Arrow is urgently recruiting for A Junior Lab Technician to join our clients growing team based in the Swansea area working for a manufacturing company.

    Contract: Permanent

    Salary: £28,000 pa

    Hours of work: DAYS 40 hrs per week

    The Junior Laboratory Technician provides essential laboratory support to all divisions, Production HSD/FMP monitoring et al, ensuring the accurate, timely testing and reporting of customer samples associated with Fluid Maintenance Programmes (FMP), Fluid Management Services (FMS), production quality, investigations and technical support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Laboratory Analysis

    Receive, log and prioritise incoming laboratory samples.
    Carry out laboratory analysis on heat transfer fluids, glycols, water samples and associated products in accordance with approved laboratory procedures.
    Perform routine chemical and physical testing including (where applicable): pH, Reserve Alkalinity, Glycol Concentration, Freeze Point, Conductivity, Chloride Analysis, Nitrite/Inhibitor Levels, Visual contamination assessment, Suspended solids, Corrosion indicators
    Record and verify laboratory results accurately.
    Escalate abnormal or out-of-specification results to senior laboratory staff.Fluid Maintenance Programme (FMP)

    Receive and process customer FMP samples.
    Perform all required testing within agreed turnaround times.
    Record results accurately within the laboratory management system.
    Prepare FMP reports for review and issue.
    Highlight samples requiring urgent customer attention.
    Support the HSD team with technical interpretation where appropriate.Fluid Management Services (FMS)

    Process FMS customer samples.
    Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with company procedures.
    produce accurate laboratory reports.
    Ensure customer turnaround times are consistently achieved.
    Assist with maintaining historical customer records.Technical Support

    Provide technical support to: HSD Engineers, Technical Sales Team, Customer Service Team, Operations, Production, Engineering depts
    Investigation of customer fluid issues
    Product performance analysis
    Sample interpretation
    Supporting customer technical enquiries
    Assisting with root cause investigations
    Preparing supporting laboratory evidence where requiredCustomer Sample Management

    Receive and log customer samples from: Field Engineers, Sales Team, Direct customer submissions, Production, Internal departments
    Ensure all samples are correctly identified and traceable.Quality Assurance

    Follow laboratory Sips and Quality Management procedures.
    Ensure testing complies with company standards.
    Maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
    Participate in internal audits where required.
    Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
    Support ISO quality requirements.Stock Control

    Monitor laboratory consumables.
    Maintain chemical inventories.
    Liaise with approved suppliers regarding laboratory consumables.
    Notify the Laboratory Manager of replenishment requirements.
    Ensure chemicals are stored safely and correctly.

    Required Skills:

    Essential

    GCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English and Science.
    Good attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
    Excellent written and verbal communication.
    Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
    Ability to follow written procedures accurately.
    Methodical and analytical approach.
    Good record-keeping skills & strong team-working ability.Desirable

    A-Level or BTEC in Chemistry or Science.
    Laboratory experience within chemical, water treatment or manufacturing industries.
    Understanding of glycol chemistry.
    Knowledge of heat transfer fluids.
    Experience of water analysis.
    Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
    Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems.
    Flexibility & capability to travel is an essential component for this position.
