How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Prototype Support & Testing: Support the development, testing, commissioning and validation of electrical systems and equipment.

Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve electrical design issues identified during manufacturing, testing or field service activities, implementing robust corrective actions where required.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to engineering improvements, design standardisation initiatives and process optimisation activities that enhance quality, performance and efficiency.

Project Delivery: Support project planning and provide accurate reporting on technical progress, ensuring delivery against agreed timescales.

Technical Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards, safety regulations and industry best practice requirements.

    Ideal Electrical Design Engineer

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Electrical Design Experience: Demonstrable experience in electrical design within locomotives, rail, transportation equipment or a related engineering sector.

Electrical CAD Expertise: Strong proficiency using Electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar design packages.

Control Systems Knowledge: Good understanding of electrical systems, control systems, PLCs and associated industry standards.

System Integration Skills: Experience integrating electrical systems into complex products or machinery.

Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.

Project Management Skills: Able to manage multiple priorities, balance workloads and deliver projects to agreed deadlines.

Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams.
