How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Ensure opportunity trackers are accurate, current and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

    * Coordinate the full bid lifecycle from initial enquiry through to final submission.

    * Develop clear, professional and compliant bid documentation.

    * Coordinate contributions from Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and Project teams.

    * Act as the central point of contact for bid-related information and departmental inputs.

    * Establish bid timelines, responsibilities, milestones and submission deadlines.

    * Monitor progress and follow up outstanding actions to keep submissions on schedule.

    * Review bid documentation for completeness, consistency and compliance.

    * Maintain structured and accurately indexed bid files and folders.

    * Ensure enquiry, tender and proposal documents are controlled and easily accessible.

    * Support commercial and technical teams with the preparation of presentations and supporting documents.

    * Organise successful bid handover and project kick-off meetings.

    * Ensure effective knowledge transfer from the bidding team to the project delivery team.

    * Work closely with Project Managers to monitor job performance.

    * Track hours consumed against individual projects and work packages.

    * Monitor material usage and relevant project costing information.

    * Record project risks, changes, actions and emerging lessons learned.

    * Support continuous improvement of bid processes, templates and reporting.

    * Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders throughout each bid.

    Skills and Experience

    * Previous experience within bids, proposals, project coordination or project support.

    * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    * Confident coordinating information across multiple departments and seniority levels.

    * Understanding of bid lifecycles and project management practices.

    * Strong attention to detail and document-control capability.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

    * Rail or rolling stock industry experience would be advantageous.

    * Knowledge of project costing, ISO standards or bid compliance would be desirable.

    * PRINCE2, APM Project Management or IOSH qualifications would be beneficial
