How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Control Systems Engineer – Actemium Automation Teesside

Join a leading VINCI Energies business delivering advanced automation and control solutions across process, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
With a strong focus on technical excellence, safety, and innovation, we deliver sustainable automation projects for a diverse client base.

Package: Competitive salary, contributory pension, Health Shield cashback plan, VINCI Share Scheme (salary sacrifice), EV Car Scheme (salary sacrifice), plus company workwear and PPE.

    About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer with strong DCS expertise—ideally in Siemens PCS 7 or Rockwell PlantPAx—to support project delivery, technical development, and customer success across our automation portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities

Design, configure and implement DCS systems (PCS 7 / PlantPAx) for industrial process automation projects.

Produce technical documents: I/O lists, control philosophies, specifications, and FDS/SDS.

Develop, test and commission PCS 7 / PlantPAx solutions both onsite and remotely.

Provide client-facing technical support, advice, and training throughout the project lifecycle.

Work collaboratively with engineering, SHEQ and project management teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery.

Support system upgrades, troubleshooting, obsolescence strategies, and ongoing DCS optimisation.

Contribute to continuous improvement in engineering standards and digital automation practices.

    Candidate Profile

Strong hands-on experience with PCS 7 or PlantPAx (essential).

Background in control systems engineering, process automation, or systems integration.

Approx. 3+ years in design, configuration and commissioning within process industries (chemicals, energy, pharma, FMCG, etc.).

Understanding of instrumentation, SCADA/HMI, industrial networks and safety systems.

Knowledge of EC&I engineering deliverables and lifecycle documentation.

Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.

    Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

    Desirable:

Experience with multiple control system vendors.

Familiarity with AutoCAD and panel design principles.

Understanding of functional safety (SIL) and quality frameworks (e.g., GAMP 5).

Awareness of OT networking and cybersecurity principles.

    Working Environment

Based at Actemium Automation Teesside with travel to client sites for commissioning and support. You’ll work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering varied automation projects within a positive safety culture. All required PPE and workwear are provided.

    Why Join Us?

Be part of a leading automation business with excellent development and progression opportunities within VINCI Energies.

Competitive benefits package including pension, cashback plan, Share Scheme and EV Car Scheme.

Ongoing training to keep your skills at the forefront of automation and control technologies.

Inclusive, innovative culture focused on technical excellence and personal growth.

    How to Apply

If you’re an experienced Control Systems Engineer with strong DCS expertise and a passion for delivering high‑quality automation solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a brief covering letter outlining your experience and motivation.

Actemium Automation Teesside is an equal opportunities employer. All applications are treated confidentially and assessed on merit.
