We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Chichester area that is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. About the Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals, you will help the pupil access learning opportunities, develop confidence and independence, and engage positively in school life.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support in line with the pupil's EHCP targets and requirements
Assist with learning activities, classroom participation, and emotional regulation
Support the pupil in developing social skills, confidence, and independence
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external agencies
Encourage a positive and inclusive learning environment
Maintain accurate records and adhere to safeguarding and school policies
The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting children with additional needs, preferably within a school setting
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant is desirable
Patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexible, proactive, and willing to follow guidance from school staff and specialists
Committed to helping children achieve their full potential
