How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Fitter - Culham, Oxfordshire

    Location: Culham, Oxfordshire (100% site-based)
    Rate: Up to £35.00 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)
    Contract: Until June 2027
    Start: ASAP
    IR35: Inside IR35
    Security Clearance: BPSS
    We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to support ongoing mechanical maintenance, assembly and installation works on a major industrial site in Culham. This is a long-term contract opportunity working within a highly technical engineering environment.

    The Role

    Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly and installation activities
    Support the maintenance, modification and improvement of mechanical equipment
    Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
    Work to a high standard of accuracy while following quality procedures
    Work safely in accordance with written safe systems of work and site procedures
    Liaise with other engineering teams to complete work efficiently and safely
    Complete maintenance and quality documentation accurately

    Essential Requirements

    Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
    Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or engineering environment
    Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings
    Good understanding of quality assurance processes and documentation
    Experience working under Written Safe Systems of Work or Method Statements
    Able to work independently and as part of a team
    Good written and verbal communication skills
    Competent using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

    Desirable

    Knowledge of vacuum systems and good vacuum practices
    Experience working with industrial cooling systems
    This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term engineering project, with work available through to June 2027. Immediate starts are available, subject to BPSS clearance and successful onboarding
