The Position - Behaviour Mentor
A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their specialist SEN unit from September. You will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and behaviours that challenge. The successful candidate will be patient, resilient, and confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner. You will build positive relationships with pupils, gain an understanding of their individual needs and behavioural triggers, and implement effective strategies to help them regulate their emotions and engage positively in learning. As part of the role, you may be required to use positive handling techniques where necessary to ensure the safety of pupils and staff. Therefore, Team Teach, restraint training, or an equivalent qualification is highly desirable. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, therapists, and the wider pastoral team to deliver tailored support, promote positive behaviour, and encourage both academic and personal development. There will be a trial during the first week back in September, giving you the opportunity to meet the team and experience the setting before starting.
