How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mencap is seeking passionate, part-time Support Workers to join our incredible team in Kirk Sandall.

    As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

    Our service is home to individuals who require support with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and communication difficulties. We need Support Workers to provide the physical and emotional support that the people we support need every day. This includes assistance with personal care, medication, finances, activities and everything else to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

    Qualities and Skills Required:

    Relationship Building: Essential for gaining the trust of the people we support, establishing open communication, and building lasting relationships.
    Patience and Understanding: Important for navigating challenging situations effectively.
    Conflict-Resolution Techniques: Necessary for managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.What we're looking for:

    A genuine passion for supporting others.
    Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
    Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
    People who enjoy interacting with the people we support.Contract options:

    20 hours per week Shifts:

    Various shifts - Between 07:00-22:00
    Must be flexible to cover sleep-ins when required on days. Paid at a flat rate of £64.20 per sleep-in
    Must be flexible to cover weekends on a rota basis
