How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, resilient, and passionate Registered Manager to lead our Transitional Home based in Walsall. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop a high-quality service that delivers outstanding outcomes for young people with complex emotional, behavioural, developmental, and mental health needs.

We are seeking a leader with proven experience of managing services that support young people who present with complex risks and behaviours. The successful candidate will have a strong therapeutic and trauma-informed approach, be able to lead staff through challenging situations, and create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can thrive.

    Who We Are

Universal Care Group is an established and growing private healthcare provider specialising in delivering high-quality support and care to children, young people, and young adults across the Midlands.

We currently operate 28 services across the group, including CQC-regulated Transitional Services supporting young people aged 16–24 and Ofsted-registered Residential Children's Homes supporting children and young people aged 7–17.

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Leading the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring full compliance with CQC regulations, legislation, and company policies.

    * Creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, therapeutic, and person-centred environment that promotes independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

    * Leading, mentoring, and developing a skilled staff team through effective supervision, coaching, and continuous professional development.

    * Developing, implementing, and reviewing individualised care and support plans that meet each young person's needs and aspirations.

    * Building effective partnerships with families, local authorities, healthcare professionals, education providers, and multidisciplinary teams.

    * Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, quality assurance, governance, and risk management across the service.

    * Supporting young people's education, employment, health, emotional wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood.

    * Promoting meaningful activities, life skills, community engagement, and positive experiences that enhance independence and confidence.

    Complex Needs & Risk Management

The young people supported within this home present with a range of complex neurodevelopmental, emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. The Registered Manager will have demonstrable experience leading services that support young people with presentations including:

    * Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including diagnosed and emerging presentations.

    * Emotional dysregulation and attachment-related difficulties.

    * Depressive disorders and complex mental health needs.

    * Self-harming behaviours and suicide or overdose risk.

    * Complex trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential:

    * Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or willingness to complete within required timescales where applicable).

    * Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or experienced Service Manager within a complex children's residential, transitional, or supported living service.

    * Demonstrable experience supporting young people with complex emotional, behavioural, developmental, and mental health needs.

    * Proven experience managing services supporting young people who present with high-risk behaviours, including self-harm, aggression, emotional dysregulation, safeguarding concerns, and complex risk management.

    * Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and therapeutic approaches.

    * Knowledge of DoLS, Mental Capacity Act, Court of Protection processes, restrictive practices, and associated legislation.

    * Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

    * Ability to develop resilient, high-performing teams capable of supporting young people with complex presentations.

If you are an experienced and inspirational leader with the skills, resilience, and passion to lead a service supporting young people with complex needs and high levels of risk, we would love to hear from you
