How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Net Zero Teesside Project
Multi Trades Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Net Zero Teesside Project based in Redcar and Cleveland.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on one of the UK's most ambitious sustainability and infrastructure projects, contributing to the delivery of a pioneering carbon capture and storage development that will help drive the UK's journey towards net zero.
    The Role
This is a project-based position offering hybrid working, with 3 days on site and 2 days working remotely.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of key project elements, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while delivering maximum value throughout the project lifecycle. You will also mentor and support junior commercial team members, helping to develop the next generation of industry professionals.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Lead the commercial management of multiple project packages, managing all costs and income within your area of responsibility.
    * Prepare, review and analyse tender documentation and cost forecasts.
    * Oversee contract cost control and commercial reporting throughout the project.
    * Negotiate commercial agreements with subcontractors and supply chain partners.
    * Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients, customers and key stakeholders.
    * Support procurement strategies and undertake constructability reviews.
    * Prepare financial reconciliations, commercial reports and progress updates for senior project management.
    * Ensure compliance with governance procedures while promoting lean construction methods and digital working practices.
    * Supervise, mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff, supporting their professional development.
    About You
We're looking for a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in major construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
You will have excellent commercial acumen, strong contract administration skills and the confidence to manage stakeholder relationships while leading commercial activities across complex project packages.
Previous experience working on cost reimbursable contracts, particularly NEC4 Option E, would be highly advantageous.
    Essential Requirements
    * BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
    * Chartered status, or actively working towards chartership, with RICS, CICES or CIOB.
    * Valid CSCS Card (Professionally Qualified Person).
    * Experience working with Cost Reimbursable Contracts, ideally NEC4 Option E.
    * Previous experience on major construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
    * Strong knowledge of commercial management software and contract administration.
    * Ability to successfully obtain SC Security Clearance.
    * Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
    What's on Offer
    * Opportunity to work on one of the UK's flagship Net Zero infrastructure projects.
    * Hybrid working arrangement (3 days on site, 2 days remote).
    * Long-term career opportunities with a leading main contractor.
    * Exposure to a nationally significant sustainability project.
    * Supportive team environment with genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.
    * Inside IR35
If you're an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to make an impact on a landmark infrastructure project, we'd love to hear from you.
