How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    EICA Engineer (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation)

    Location: Liverpool

    We are partnering with a highly successful and growing manufacturing business to recruit an EICA Engineer who will play a pivotal role in driving automation excellence across a modern production facility.     This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and wants to make a real impact through automation, digitalisation and continuous improvement.

    The Opportunity

    As the site's subject matter expert for Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation, you will lead the development and enhancement of advanced manufacturing systems, including:

    PLC control systems
    SCADA platforms
    MES solutions
    Process instrumentation
    Variable speed drives and motor control systems
    Factory automation and digital integration technologies

    You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and manufacturing performance through automation-led solutions.

    Working closely with Operations, Engineering and external technology partners, you will help deliver projects ranging from equipment upgrades and process improvements through to major capital investment and factory development initiatives.

    Key Tasks

    Leading automation and process control improvements across the site
    Developing and supporting PLC, SCADA and MES systems
    Delivering engineering and capital projects from concept through to commissioning
    Driving reliability, performance and operational efficiency improvements
    Providing technical leadership on instrumentation and control systems
    Supporting digital transformation and smart manufacturing initiatives
    Managing contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders
    Creating and maintaining control system documentation and standards
    Coaching and developing engineering colleagues
    Contributing to a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational excellenceRequirements

    You will be an experienced automation or controls engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

    Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Automation or related Engineering discipline
    Experience within manufacturing, process, food, chemical or similar industrial environments
    Strong knowledge of:
    PLC programming and control systems
    SCADA platforms
    Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    Industrial instrumentation
    VSDs and motor control systems
    MCCs and electrical systems
    Experience delivering engineering projects and system upgrades
    Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
    Strong communication and stakeholder management abilitiesExperience with Lean manufacturing, reliability engineering methodologies, FMEA or RCM would be advantageous.
