How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

    We are currently seeking an experienced Chillers Service Engineer to join our Birmingham team.

    This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, repairing, and fault-finding on a wide range of specialist cooling and heating equipment. Working across customer sites and our specialist fleet, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready to perform when our customers need it most.

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Carrying out service, maintenance, and repair work on industrial chillers and associated equipment

    * Maintaining the safe operation and presentation of equipment including chillers, boilers, dehumidifiers, AHUs, and ancillary systems

    * Performing inspections, servicing, testing, cleaning, and maintenance in line with company procedures

    * Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs within your level of training and technical competence

    * Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards

    * Maintaining accurate service, inspection, testing, and calibration records

    * Travelling to customer sites to support installations, servicing, and breakdown response

    * Acting as a professional ambassador for Andrews Sykes and the Specialist Hire Division at all times

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * F-Gas qualified

    * Strong understanding of chillers and boilers

    * Experience in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair

    * Willingness to travel as part of the role

    * Flexibility to work outside normal working hours when required

    * Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work

    Desirable

    * Previous experience working with industrial chillers

    * Experience within a similar service engineering environment

    * Knowledge of AHUs and specialist cooling equipment
