How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The organisation has a collaborative, positive safety culture where your expertise will be valued, and you'll work flexibly across Surrey and the surrounding areas with no overnight stays required.

    The Role

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety and Building Compliance, you'll play a key role in ensuring homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained.
This is a varied role covering all aspects of building compliance, with a particular focus on fire safety, building safety and water safety, while also supporting compliance across areas such as asbestos.
As a key member of the Building Compliance team, you'll work collaboratively with residents, contractors and colleagues to manage specialist compliance contracts
Support Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), review risk assessments, undertake inspections and provide expert technical guidance.
You'll also help shape and continuously improve the Building Safety function, ensuring the highest standards of compliance across the portfolio.
    About the Building Safety Surveyor

    To be successful, you'll have:

Experience managing building compliance within social housing, local government or a similar property environment.
Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, particularly fire safety, with experience of water hygiene and asbestos highly desirable.
A good understanding of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety legislation and Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).
Experience managing specialist contractors and driving compliance programmes.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, contractors and colleagues.
A relevant surveying, construction or building maintenance qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
    A full UK driving licence.
    Why Apply?

Join a growing organisation that's investing in its homes and its people.
Help shape an expanding Building Safety team with genuine opportunities for progression.
Be part of a collaborative team where your expertise will make a real difference.
Enjoy hybrid working with travel across Surrey and the surrounding areas.
Work in an organisation where health, safety and compliance are fully supported by senior leadership.
Take on a varied role spanning fire safety, building safety and wider statutory compliance.
If you're looking for a role where you can make a real impact while developing your career within a forward-thinking housing organisation, we'd love to hear from you
