How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a well-established and growing transport and logistics business, is seeking an experienced and motivated National Traffic Planner to join their busy General Haulage operation.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual looking to further develop their career within a successful business that genuinely invests in its people and offers clear progression opportunities.

    The Role As a National Traffic Planner, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management and optimisation of a national general haulage fleet. Working within a fast-paced transport environment, you will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met efficiently while maintaining high service standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    Planning and optimising the daily operation of a national general haulage fleet.
    Allocating work effectively across company vehicles and a trusted subcontractor network.
    Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, ensuring service expectations are consistently achieved.
    Liaising with drivers on a daily basis, providing instructions and resolving operational issues.
    Monitoring vehicle movements and responding promptly to any transport challenges.
    Working closely with colleagues across the wider business to ensure smooth operational delivery.
    Maintaining accurate transport records and ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
    Coordinating vehicle presentations for inspections and MOTs through approved service providers. The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Previous experience within transport planning, logistics, haulage or a traffic office environment.
    Strong communication and customer service skills.
    Excellent organisational abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
    Good problem-solving skills and confidence in decision-making.
    The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
    Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
    Experience using transport management systems, although this is advantageous rather than essential.
