How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The team plays a key role in creating and maintaining an effective working environment across DVLA. Working at the heart of the organisation, the team supports the delivery of professional workplace, facilities and accommodation services that enable colleagues to work safely, efficiently and productively. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders, contributing to continuous improvement, operational effectiveness and the delivery of a positive workplace experience for staff, visitors and partners.

    This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and effective working environment at DVLA Birmingham. You will oversee workplace assurance, security and compliance activities, working closely with internal stakeholders and service providers to ensure services meet required standards. The role supports accommodation planning, incident management and business resilience, helping to safeguard operational continuity while delivering high-quality workplace services that enable colleagues to work safely and effectively.

    Top Responsibilities

    * Operation of security access control systems ensuring accurate permissions are assigned for all staff, contractors and visitors to the DVLA area.

    * Monitor and assess compliance with health and safety legislation, security policies, and statutory requirements, identifying risks and areas for improvement.

    * Conduct audits, inspections, and assurance activities, analysing findings and translating them into clear, actionable recommendations.

    * Oversee and evaluate landlord and third-party service delivery, influencing outcomes to ensure services meet organisational standards and contractual expectations.

    * Identify, assess, and manage risks to safety, compliance, and operational continuity, ensuring appropriate mitigation actions are implemented.
