How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Firearms Licensing Administrator to work within the Devon & Cornwall Police Force

    Location: Exeter
    Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday to Friday 37 hours per week
    Hourly Rate: £13.33 per hour

    Contract: Temporary until March 2027

    ** Please note this role will be subject to Police Vetting, you will need to have resided within the UK for a minimum of 3 years**

    About the Role:

    As a Firearms Licensing Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all firearms licensing applications are processed efficiently and in compliance with legal standards. Your responsibilities will include:

    Processing Applications: Manage and flag any concerns regarding applications, ensuring that all activities support lawful firearms usage.
    Customer Support: Serve as the friendly face of the team, providing expert guidance to callers regarding all aspects of firearms licensing.
    Payment Management: Handle and process payments for certificates with accuracy and attention to detail.
    Mail Management: Receive, sort, and distribute a high volume of mail and emails, ensuring smooth communication flow.
    Applicant Checks: Conduct checks on applicants using Force intelligence systems to uphold safety and compliance.
    Document Management: Accurately record, scan, and archive application documents, maintaining organised records in our databases.
    Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest opportunities for process enhancements to improve team efficiency.
