How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

As a Children's Home Deputy Manager, you'll help lead a caring, therapeutic home where children can recover from trauma, build meaningful relationships and gain the skills and confidence to thrive.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional to join a growing therapeutic service as a Deputy Manager.

You will play a key role in both the operational leadership of the home and the delivery of high-quality care. This is a varied position that combines hands-on support with management responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to progress into a Registered Manager role in the future.

You'll spend approximately half of your time supporting young people and leading the team on shift, with the remainder dedicated to office-based responsibilities such as compliance, care planning, staff development, and supporting the overall management of the home. When the Registered Manager is absent, you'll step up to oversee the service and manage the home on a full-time basis.

    Why Apply?

    * Excellent Salary Package of £39,000 - £43,000 per year, plus £60 per sleep-in.

    * Clear Route to Registered Manager. Join a service committed to developing future leaders, with genuine progression opportunities into Registered Manager positions.

    * Leadership With Purpose. Combine hands-on therapeutic practice with operational management responsibilities.

    * Small Homes, Greater Impact. Supporting up to two young people allows for more focused interventions, stronger relationships, and meaningful outcomes.

    * Therapeutic Approach. Be part of a service that prioritises relationship-led care, emotional wellbeing, and positive outcomes for young people.

    * Growing Organisation. Join an ambitious and forward-thinking service that continues to invest in both young people and staff.

    The Role

As Deputy Manager, you'll support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, and staff performance are maintained at all times. You'll lead by example, support the development of the staff team, and help create a positive culture where young people can thrive.

This role offers an excellent balance between direct work with young people and management responsibilities, making it ideal for someone looking to bridge the gap between Senior Residential Support Worker and Registered Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the Registered Manager with the overall operation of the home.

    * Lead shifts and provide guidance and support to the staff team.

    * Ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained.

    * Support recruitment, induction, supervision, and development of staff.

    * Contribute to care planning, risk management, and quality assurance processes.

    * Monitor and maintain accurate records and documentation.

    * Build positive relationships with young people, families, professionals, and external agencies.

    * Promote a therapeutic, nurturing, and child-centred culture throughout the home.

    * Step into the Registered Manager's responsibilities during periods of absence.
