How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our collaborative approach, technical expertise and commitment to excellence have established us as a trusted partner for local authorities, national contractors, developers and private sector clients.

    As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a commercially driven Managing Quantity Surveyor who shares our ambition to deliver exceptional projects while helping to shape the future of our commercial team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Take overall commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects, primarily supporting two key strategic clients alongside a number of smaller schemes.

    * Lead on the legal and contractual aspects of project delivery, including contract reviews, risk management, and identifying commercial opportunities.

    * Produce and present high-quality commercial reports, providing clear insights into project performance, risks, and financial position.

    * Manage, mentor, and develop the commercial team, including overseeing Quantity Surveyors and recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

    * Drive continuous improvement by implementing new commercial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency.

    * Play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the commercial function, with the autonomy to make a lasting impact on how the department operates.

    * Manage and mentor Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors and commercial support staff.

    * Support the Commercial Director with business planning, forecasting and strategic commercial decisions.
