How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Supporting the estimating team with the production of tenders for design and build projects
Working with the BIM team to develop spatially coordinated 3D models and 2D drawings

Ensuring designs comply with employer requirements, statutory requirements and relevant technical standards
Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, environmental requirements and quality standards
Liaising with specialist subcontractors involved in project delivery
Working with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the correct application of mechanical plant and equipment
Attending and contributing to internal and external design and project meetings
Identifying and proposing alternative design solutions where they provide technical or commercial benefits
Monitoring design progress and producing design progress reports
Managing multiple projects and priorities effectively
Continuing to develop technical knowledge through CPD, training and hands-on project experience
    Requirements

The successful Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer will ideally have:

Proven experience in mechanical and public health building services design
Comprehensive technical knowledge across mechanical and public health services
Experience working across multiple projects within a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and a 'right first time' approach
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve design challenges
Understanding of the Building Safety Act and requirements relating to Higher Risk Buildings
Commercial awareness and an understanding of developing designs within agreed cost plans and budgets
Ability to work collaboratively with developers, architects, structural engineers, consultants, main contractors and specialist subcontractors
Clear and concise communication skills, both internally and externally
Strong organisation and time management skills
A minimum Level 4/5 qualification relevant to Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable
    What's on Offer

    Competitive salary
25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days with service, plus bank holidays
    Company car or car allowance
    Private healthcare
    Life insurance
Pension scheme with 5.5% employer contribution
    Enhanced maternity and adoption package
    Enhanced paternity package
    Flexible holiday scheme
    Employee-owned business
    Excellent working environment
    Ongoing technical and personal development
