How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Deputy Head of Faculty - Construction, Trades & Heritage

    Northamptonshire

    £42,000 - £44,900 + Teachers' Pension + 44 Days Holiday + Christmas Closure + Excellent Benefits + Career Progression

Are you an experienced Construction education professional looking to step into a senior faculty leadership role?

Do you want to join a forward-thinking College where you can support curriculum growth, improve quality, develop staff, and help shape the future of Construction, Trades and Heritage provision?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading College during an exciting period of development across its Construction, Trades and Heritage faculty. With strong facilities, a supportive culture, and a clear focus on growth across apprenticeships, employer-led provision and specialist trades, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact across a broad and varied curriculum area.

As Deputy Head of Faculty, you'll work closely with the Head of Faculty to support the leadership, management and operational delivery of Construction, Trades and Heritage provision. The faculty covers areas including Brickwork, Carpentry, Furniture, and specialist heritage disciplines such as Stone Masonry, with delivery taking place across Moulton and Higham depending on faculty needs.

The majority of the role will focus on faculty leadership, quality, staff support, curriculum planning and operational management, with a teaching commitment of up to approximately 7.5 hours per week. You'll help drive consistency across the team, support learner outcomes, contribute to standardisation and quality assurance, and play a key role in the continued development of the faculty.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Construction, Trades or Heritage education professional with strong curriculum knowledge and leadership potential. You may already be operating in a curriculum management or deputy faculty role, or you could be an experienced lecturer ready to take the next step into leadership. A teaching qualification is expected, ideally Level 5 or equivalent, alongside a relevant trade or vocational background.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Construction education professional to progress into a key leadership role, support a growing faculty, and contribute to the future development of a distinctive and well-regarded College provision.

    The role:

*Deputy Head of Faculty across Construction, Trades and Heritage.
*Support the leadership and operational management of the wider faculty.
*Work closely with the Head of Faculty to drive quality, curriculum development and learner outcomes.
*Support areas including Brickwork, Carpentry, Furniture, Stone Masonry and wider specialist provision.
*Line manage and support lecturers, skills coaches, technicians and wider faculty staff.
*Contribute to staff development, standardisation, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
*Teaching commitment of up to approximately 7.5 hours per week.
*Support apprenticeship, 16-19, adult and specialist provision across the faculty.
*Work across Moulton and Higham where required.
*Permanent position with a September / October start ideally.
*Excellent package including Teachers' Pension, 44 days holiday, Christmas closure and wider staff benefits.

    The person:

*Experience within Construction, Trades, Heritage or a related curriculum area.
*Strong knowledge of provision such as Brickwork, Carpentry, Furniture, Stone Masonry or similar.
*Teaching qualification expected, ideally Level 5 or equivalent.
*Relevant Level 3 trade qualification or equivalent vocational background.
*Leadership, curriculum management or team management experience desirable.
*Experienced lecturers looking to step into leadership will also be considered.
    *Assessor qualifications highly advantageous.
*Experience supporting standardisation, quality and consistency across teaching teams would be beneficial.
*Strong communication, organisation and people-management skills.
*Flexible and willing to work across different College sites where required.
*Passionate about supporting staff, improving curriculum quality and delivering strong learner outcomes.
