How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Sussex, East Hampshire, East Kent, and surrounding areas

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30

    Overview:
    First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Lifting Equipment Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded engineering business specialising in the service, maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, and commissioning of lifting equipment across a wide range of industrial customer sites throughout the South.

    The successful candidate will work on a variety of lifting equipment, carrying out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and installations while ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.

    Our client is particularly keen to hear from ex-military personnel; however, all suitably qualified candidates will be given due consideration.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Service, maintain, inspect, and repair a wide range of lifting equipment.
    Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding on lifting equipment and associated systems.
    Diagnose and repair motors, drives, control systems, brakes, limit switches, and safety devices.
    Install, commission, and upgrade lifting equipment at customer sites.
    Conduct LOLER inspections and ensure all lifting equipment remains compliant with current legislation.
    Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs across customer sites.
    Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and technical paperwork accurately.
    Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.
    Deliver excellent customer service while representing the business professionally on-site.
    Skills and Qualifications:

    Previous experience working on lifting equipment, overhead cranes, hoists, industrial machinery, or similar engineering equipment.
    Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including experience with three-phase systems and industrial controls.
    Good mechanical engineering knowledge.
    Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious approach.
    NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is desirable.
    Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations is advantageous.
    Experience with PLC fault finding and diagnostics would be beneficial.
    LEEA qualification or other lifting equipment certification is desirable.
    Benefits:

    Basic salary of up to £43,(Apply online only)(Increasing after probational period)
    Realistic OTE of £65,(Apply online only)+.
    Paid travel time from home to site and return.
    Overtime paid at 1.5x before 08:00 and after 16:30.
    Saturday overtime paid at 1.5x.
    Sunday overtime paid at 2x.
