How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

They are seeking an experienced Planning & Property Lawyer to provide practical legal advice across planning and commercial property matters, with the opportunity to work on high-profile projects and build strong stakeholder relationships.

    The Role

As Planning & Property Lawyer, you will advise on planning and commercial property matters, supporting development and regeneration projects across the organisation. You will manage your own caseload, negotiate legal agreements, advise project teams and provide commercially focused guidance on matters including Section 106 agreements, property transactions and Planning Committee work.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide legal advice on planning, property and local government matters.

    • Draft and negotiate Section 106 Agreements and advise on planning obligations.

    • Advise on commercial property transactions including acquisitions, disposals, leases and licences.

    • Support regeneration and development projects with practical legal guidance.

    • Attend Planning Committee and stakeholder meetings where required.

    • Negotiate agreements with developers, landowners and external parties.

    • Manage a varied caseload while keeping up to date with relevant legislation and best practice.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced legal professional with a strong background in planning and/or commercial property law. You will be commercially minded, solutions focused and confident advising stakeholders, managing negotiations and balancing legal risk with organisational objectives.

    Essential Experience

    • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant post-qualification experience.

    • Experience advising on planning law, commercial property or a combination of both.

    • Experience drafting and negotiating land and development agreements.

    • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to provide practical legal advice.

    • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

    • Excellent communication skills with confidence advising senior stakeholders.

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience drafting and negotiating Section 106 Agreements.

    • Local authority experience or experience advising local authorities in private practice.

    • Experience supporting Planning Committee meetings.

    • Knowledge of regeneration projects or wider local government law.

    What's on Offer?

    • Competitive salary dependent on experience.

    • Local Government Pension Scheme.

    • Generous annual leave entitlement.

    • Hybrid working with flexibility to work from home.

    • Opportunity to work on varied planning, property and regeneration projects.

    • Supportive legal team with opportunities for professional development.

    This Role May Suit

This role may suit candidates currently working as a Planning Lawyer, Property Lawyer, Commercial Property Solicitor, Planning Solicitor, Real Estate Solicitor or Local Government Solicitor.
