How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

    I am currently recruiting for an experienced Automotive Engine Builder to join a well-established and growing business based in Royston. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong mechanical background to play a key role in the assembly of high-quality engines.

    The Role

    As an Automotive Engine Builder, you will be responsible for assembling engines to precise engineering specifications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assemble automotive engines to detailed engineering specifications.
    Install and fit engine components using the correct tools and torque settings.
    Carry out quality inspections throughout the build process.
    Ensure completed engines meet performance and reliability standards.
    Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
    Follow all health and safety procedures.
    Assist with other workshop duties as required.

    Candidate Requirements

    Essential:

    Proven experience in automotive engine building or mechanical engineering.
    Strong understanding of engine components and assembly processes.
    Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    Desirable:

    A minimum of 3 years' experience in engine building or a similar mechanical engineering role.
    Experience working within an automotive workshop or engine remanufacturing environment.
