How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Estimator – Cambridge

Are you an experienced Electrical Estimator looking to join a well-established M&E contractor with an excellent reputation and a strong pipeline of work?
Our client is a highly respected Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor with nearly 60 years of industry experience. Based in Cambridge, they deliver high-quality design, installation and maintenance solutions across a wide range of commercial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an Electrical Estimator to strengthen their pre-construction team.

    The Role
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of electrical building services projects. Working closely with clients, suppliers and the wider pre-construction team, you will play a key role in securing new business and ensuring successful project handovers.

    Key Responsibilities
·Prepare detailed and competitive electrical estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications and employer's requirements.
·Liaise with clients, consultants and main contractors throughout the tender process.
·Attend site surveys where required to gather information for accurate pricing.
·Identify any commercial or technical risks, unusual requirements or value engineering opportunities.
·Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
·Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.
·Produce cost comparisons, risk registers and tender adjudication documents.
·Use estimating software to prepare and manage tender submissions.
·Support the Bid Manager throughout the tender process.
·Ensure a smooth and comprehensive handover of successful tenders to the operations team.

    About You
You will have previous experience estimating electrical building services projects and be confident working on design-and-build and traditional tenders.
    You should also have:
·Proven experience producing fixed-price estimates across RIBA Stages 2–4.
·Strong understanding of electrical building services design and installation.
    ·Experience using estimating software.
    ·Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    ·Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
·Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
    ·A proactive and self-motivated approach.
·Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.

    What's on Offer
·Join a successful and well-established M&E contractor with nearly six decades of industry experience.
·Work on a varied portfolio of commercial building services projects.
·Long-term career progression within a growing business.
    ·Supportive and collaborative working environment.
    ·Competitive salary and benefits package.

If you're an experienced Electrical Estimator looking for your next challenge with a reputable contractor, we'd love to hear from you
